DECEMBER 2024 NEWSLETTER
2024– a tough year but one of opportunity for retailers that are good at what they do.
Opportunity beckons when the general market is down and despite the false messaging it is way down.
Fashion and general retail are doing it the toughest and non-discretionary is holding but other pressures erode returns.
Utilities, cost of labour and poorly skilled labour are the bug bears.
Leasewise 237 Projects
JAN 2024 TO DEC 2024
We have had another record year with 237 transaction, 32% of those new sites, 23% renewals, 19% disputes, 5% surrenders and 8% reshaping or varying leases to continue trading.
The challenges have been aggression and pressure from the institutional owners to maintain rents with almost childish requests for increases at times.
Makes for an interesting 2025.
